Through the error, mistake, and the mistranslation, language is constructed and conversely re-constructs the generating context of the relationship between communicating subjects. This concept is not necessarily a contradiction of the idea of the divine language (initially developed by Aristotle), in which a mistake is impossible and anything may be expressed and understood clearly. Most importantly this is a language of genesis. The divine language was not produced by the world, rather the world was an imperfect production of language. Words evoke objects, events, and actions which are absent, in the imagination. In a dialogical process, where language is produced through its use, the suggestion is that meaning may only exist at the moment that it is also collapsing. The works of the invited artists of Keep Taking it Apart share a common interest in the moment of collapsed meaning, mistranslation and imagination of something absent.
